The Legal page, available for selection from the Details menu, allows you to view time tracking information on the Plaintiff/Defense, Case, Appeal and ERISA Appeals tabs for the selected claim.

Note: Due to Montana state law restricting insured employers’ access to claim information, this page is not available to client users viewing an insured workers’ compensation claim under Montana’s jurisdiction.

The table below describes the information found on the Plaintiff Attorney tab of the Legal page:

Plaintiff Attorney Tab
Field Description
Name The plaintiff attorney's name
Firm The name of the firm with which the plaintiff attorney is associated
Representing The name of the individual or group represented by the plaintiff attorney
Address The mailing address of the plaintiff attorney or law firm
Country The country in which the plaintiff attorney or law firm is located
County The county in which the plaintiff attorney or law firm is located
Phone The telephone number of the plaintiff attorney or law firm
Email The electronic mail address of the plaintiff attorney or law firm
Fax The facsimile number of the plaintiff attorney or law firm
Attorney Representation Date The date the plaintiff attorney began representation of the claimant

Name The defense attorney's name
Firm The name of the firm with which the defense attorney is associated
Representing The name of the individual or group represented by the defense attorney

Case # The number assigned to the case by the court
In Litigation? Indicates whether or not the claim is in litigation; options are Yes or No
Date The date claim went into litigation
Verdict A description of the verdict; options are the following:
  • Appeal Defense
  • Appeal Plaintiff
  • Defense Won
  • Defense Won Appeal
  • Directed Verdict
  • Dismissed With Prejudice
  • Dismissed Without Prejudice
  • Plaintiff Won
  • Plaintiff Won Appeal
  • Settled
  • Summary Judgment
  • Third Party Takeover
  • Verdict Under Offer
  • Voluntary Dismissal
Small Claims Court? Indicates if the claim is in litigation for punitive damages; options are Yes or No
Legal Strategy The case’s legal strategy, if known.
Resolved? Indicates whether or not the case has been resolved; options are Yes or No
Date The date the claim was resolved
Date Suit Filed w/ Court The date the file was brought to suit
Motion Date The date reminder of a pending motion
Date of Service to Client The date the client was notified the claim was in litigation
Service of Process Method by which process was served (e.g., personal service, mail, etc.)
Mediation Result A description of the mediator's ruling
Admin Notified Date the claim administrator was notified
Trial Date The date of the trial proceedings
Time The time of the trial proceedings
Answer Due Date The mediator's ruling date
Answer Not Required Indicates whether an answer is not required.
Reason If the Answer Not Required is Yes, this field displays the reason why an answer is not required.
Extension The date of any extensions
Stayed Indicates whether the legal proceeding or actions of a party were stopped.
Reason If Stayed is Yes, this field displays the reason why proceedings were stopped.
Answer File Date The date the extension request was filed with the federal/state docket
Trial Result The ruling from the court proceedings
Docket The docket identifier assigned by the court
Court The court where the trial is being heart
Lawsuit State The state where the lawsuit took place
Punitive Damages? Indicates if there are punitive damages; options are Yes or No
Escrow The amount to be placed in escrow of demanded fees or disputed monies
Fees In Escrow? Indicates if there are fees in escrow; options are Yes or No
Appeal Case # The number of the appeal case assigned by the court when it entered the appeals process
Level Indicates at what level of court the case has made it to
Date Due The due date for the appeal
Motion Date The motion date reminder of a pending appeal
Suit Date The date the file was brought to suit
Trial Date The date of the appeal trial proceedings
Trial Time the time of the appeal trial proceedings
Notify The date the notifications must be sent
Result A description of the appeal outcome from a previous verdict
Answer Date The date reminder of the appeal answer brief

Received The date the office received the appeal
Decision Due The date the appeal decision is due, if applicable
Decision Made The date the appeal decision was made, if applicable
Decision A description of the appeal, if applicable
Reason A description for the appeal reason, if applicable
Show [#] Records Per Page (Update) To expand the list of ERISA Appeals, enter the number of records you wish to display in the Show [#] Records Per Page field and click the Update link
Date Appeal Received The date the appeal was received
Date Acknowledgment Letter Sent The date the acknowledgment letter was sent to the claimant
Appeal Examiner The name of the examiner assigned to the appeal
Date Denial Letter Sent The date the denial letter was sent to the claimant
Appeal Received by Examiner The date the appeal was received the examiner
Begin Toll Date #1 The begin toll date; tolling periods are "holding" periods requested by the claimant that are not counted against the time allotted to us for handling an ERISA appeal.
End Toll Date #1 See above

New Medical Received Indicates whether or not new medical information has been received; options are Yes or No
Attorney Retained Indicates whether or not an attorney has been retained for services; options are Yes or No
Date Decision Due The date the final appeal decision is due
Date Decision Made The date the appeal decision was made
Decision A description of the decision made on the appeal
Reason The reason for the decision
Extension Letter Sent Indicates whether or not a letter requesting an appeal extension has been sent out; options are Yes or No
Date Extension Letter Sent The date the letter was sent, if applicable
Date Medical Review Requested The date a medical review was requested, if applicable
Date Medical Review Reviewed The date the medical review was received by Sedgwick
